  Correcting Fragments

There are two ways to correct fragments:
      (1) add the missing sentence element (a subject or a predicate)
      (2) attach the fragment to the main clause.

Rewrite the sentences below, eliminating the fragments. Then hit enter or the tab key. If your answer is incorrect (red), after two attempts, type in a question mark and hit enter to see the correct response. Punctuation, spelling, and capitalization are all important!


1. People who used to work in Watsonville's frozen food plants. They're losing their jobs.

    

2. The work paid decent wages at $10 to $22 an hour. And provided good benefits.

    

3. The Birds Eye food processing plant now plans to shut down. By the end of the year. Leaving only locally owned Del Mar foods operating in Watsonville.

       

4. It's a big blow to the workers. Who have been working there for years and now have to take early retirement.

    

5. But like so many other plants before them. Birds Eye is moving its processing plant south of the border. Where the cost of packaging frozen foods is so much cheaper.

   

6. When the Watsonville plant shuts down. About 550 workers will be out of work.
