Assignments Due March 7th: Please turn them in at the beginning of class unless you have posted your vocabulary journal:
♦ Vocab journal, Unit 3, Chapter 2
♦ Timed reading sheet showing your reading times for one chapter in each of the first three units.
Class Activities:
♦ What is eco-tourism? We will focus on this question as we review the passage and vocabulary that relates to the chapter's theme.
♦ We will complete the reading comprehension, vocabulary and discussion activities for this chapter.
Assignments due March 9th
♦ Complete any vocabulary activities we were unable to complete in class.
♦ Go to the Practice Activities page and open the exercise marked Prefixes. From now on, as you encounter words with prefixes (such as eject, projector, injection, reject, dejected, interject, project, objection (p. 40) look up the meaning of the prefix if you don't know it already. Check the link for prefixes under practice activities on the home page. You can also open it here .
♦ Complete the Real Life Skill on page 42. After completing it, make a list of words and phrases that suggest (connote) primitive conditions or experiences in less developed environments. Then make a list of words that suggest (connote) very extravagant and comfortable conditions or experiences in very developed environments. By doing this activity, you should understand more clearly how words can have definite connotations.
